Who am I?
Well, I am not the type of photographer to write a cheesy 3rd person perspective view on himself.....now that’s that out of the way, let’s begin.
I am first and foremost an Anthropology Major at SMU in Dallas, currently in my Junior year. Photography has been a passion and a hobby of mine for almost 10 years. I decided I wanted to share my love for the arts with others. I enjoy all types of photography including landscapes, macro, street, and just documenting life. You can view these photos in my FUN! gallery.
What I enjoy on another level is portrait photography. Not only must you understand the camera, but also the art of lighting. This is where my artistic and technical OCD meet. The same way a painter uses paint, a photographer uses light. If you think my shots stand out over simple point-and-shoot shots, that is because I have taken where the light hits in to my own hands. I like photography because it gives me an artistic outlet. I cannot paint, draw, or sculpt. I do have an eye for the arts, and I strive to learn more and more about photography. Like artisans in the past and present, I feel assisting others gains one much knowledge and skill in the subject. While I have no "formal" (i.e. schooling) in photography, I have worked with and for quite a number of local photographers, learning a lot about the art in the process.
When I shoot a session with you, I capture shots in a format called RAW. This is the equivalent of a digital negative. I process and fine-tune the highlights, shadows, and colors in a special software program. From there, I turn it in to a TIFF file, as not to lose any detail to compression. The image is opened in a photoediting program and fine-tuned even more. From there it is turned into the more common jpeg file. It seems like a lot of work. I know! However, like film, digital photographs need to be processed just like older images were processed in a darkroom. Regardless of the work, I love the process. The best part of the process is that you'll love the final results.
I offer portrait sessions for people who are looking to get dynamic, urban, and natural photographs. If you are interested in some photographs, continue to my Info and Pricing page to learn more about what I offer.
